Journey is a daily planner at getjourney.day. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can get it deleted. It covers the Journey web app at app.getjourney.day and this website.
Who we are
Journey ("Journey", "we", "us") builds and operates the Journey daily planner. You can reach us at any time atsupport@getjourney.day. We are the controller of the personal data described below.
The short version
- We collect the minimum we need to run the planner: your account details, the content you create in Journey, and the data you explicitly connect from other tools.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we never have.
- We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not use it to train machine learning or AI models.
- Data from connected accounts is used only to provide the features you asked for, inside your own account.
Account data
Accounts and sign-in are handled by Clerk. When you create an account, Clerk stores your name, email address, and authentication details (such as a password hash or the identifier from the social sign-in provider you chose), and it issues the session tokens that let the app know who you are. We read your name, email address, and user identifier from Clerk so we can show you your own data and contact you about your account.
Billing data
Journey is a paid app. Subscriptions are handled by Clerk Billing, which uses Stripe as the payment processor. Card details are entered directly with Stripe: we never see or store your card number. We receive and store subscription status information (for example whether your trial is active, whether the subscription is current, and when the period ends) so the app can unlock the features you are paying for.
App data
The content you create in Journey is stored in our database, hosted byConvex. This includes your tasks and notes, day plans, calendars and events, habits and habit logs, focus and timer sessions, labels, schedules, integration connections, and your app settings. It is stored so the app can show it back to you and keep it in sync across your devices. Only you — and the people you explicitly share data with, if such a feature is available to you — can see your app data. Journey staff access it only when you ask us to for support, or where we must for security or legal reasons.
Google user data
Connecting a Google account is optional. If you connect one, Journey requests access only to the scopes needed for the features below, and Google shows you exactly what those are before you approve them.
Google Calendar
What we access: your calendar list and the events on the calendars you choose to sync — their titles, descriptions, times, time zones, locations, attendees, conferencing links, recurrence, and cancellation status.
Why: to show your real schedule next to your plan, to import meetings into your day, and to write your timeboxes and changes back to Google so both sides stay in sync. This is two-way sync, so events Journey creates or edits on your behalf appear on your Google Calendar.
Gmail
What we access: message metadata only — subject, sender, recipients, date, labels, and message identifiers. We do not read, store, or transmit the bodies of your email messages, and we do not access attachments.
Why: so you can turn a specific email into a task during planning, and open the original message in Gmail from Journey. We do not send email on your behalf.
How we use and share Google user data
- Google user data is used solely to provide and improve the user-facing features you connected it for. It is shown back to you in your own account.
- We never sell Google user data, and we never transfer it to data brokers, advertisers, or other third parties for their own purposes.
- We never use it for advertising of any kind.
- We do not use it to train, develop, or improve generalized machine learning or AI models.
- Humans do not read your Google data, except with your explicit consent for support, where needed for security purposes (such as investigating abuse), or to comply with applicable law.
- It is processed by our infrastructure providers (Convex for storage, Vercel for hosting) solely as service providers acting on our instructions.
Journey's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can disconnect Google from Journey at any time in the app's integration settings, and you can revoke Journey's access from theGoogle Account permissions page. Disconnecting deletes the stored access and refresh tokens for that connection.
Other connected tools
Jira
If you connect Jira, we access the issues you can already see — their keys, summaries, statuses, assignees, due dates, and links — so you can pull them into your day and write status or field changes back. We do not access Jira data beyond the projects and issues the connection grants.
Linear
If you connect Linear, we access your issues — identifiers, titles, states, assignees, due dates, and links — for the same reason: to plan them in Journey and write updates back to Linear.
Slack
If you connect Slack, we access the messages you explicitly send to Journey (for example a saved or forwarded message) and the minimum workspace and channel details needed to display them, so you can turn them into tasks. We do not read your Slack history in the background.
Data from these tools is treated exactly like Google user data: used only to provide the features you connected them for, never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train machine learning models.
Website analytics
This marketing site ships no client-side JavaScript and sets no cookies. Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes standard server request logs, including IP address and user agent, for security and operational purposes.
Retention and deletion
- We keep your account and app data for as long as your account exists.
- Disconnecting an integration deletes that integration's stored credentials and tokens, and the synced items it owns are removed or detached from your account.
- You can delete individual items (tasks, habits, events, and so on) in the app at any time.
- You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailingsupport@getjourney.day. We will confirm and complete the deletion promptly, other than data we are required to retain for legal, tax, or accounting reasons (for example billing records).
- Routine backups may retain deleted data for a short period before they expire.
Security
All traffic to Journey is encrypted in transit with TLS. App data is stored on Convex's managed infrastructure and the site and app are served through Vercel; both providers encrypt data at rest. Integration tokens are stored server-side and are never exposed to the browser. Authentication is delegated to Clerk, so we do not handle passwords ourselves. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of your data seriously and will notify affected users about any breach as required by law.
Where your data is processed
Journey uses service providers based in the United States (Clerk, Stripe, Convex, Vercel). If you use Journey from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed there.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can do much of this yourself in the app, and you can always ask us atsupport@getjourney.day. We do not sell personal data and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children
Journey is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Journey changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Journey after a change means you accept the updated policy.
